PolytopAI is an artificial word centered around the ancient Greek word „topoi“1 , which literally means “places” or “spaces”. The term has been further coined by Aristotle, extending it to typical rhetorical concepts or themes. The modern English term „topic“ is likely originating from that same seed2.
PolytopAI is consequently a neologism of „poly“ (i.e. „many“), topoi („spaces“ / „themes“) and AI (artificial intelligence). It emphasizes the many posible futures coming into reach with AI. Its motto „Choose the future“ puts us humans in the center, building on our creativity and spiritual freedom to construct our world with AI. However, not all the possible futures are utopian, and critical futures are explored as well.
In that sense, poly topos also refers not only to the multifaceted set of possible futures in front of us, but also to the diverse short stories that draw us into the different spaces. They are categorized into „negative“ and „positive„, into „present“ and „future“.
